AN AUSTRALIAN TRAGEDY.
Melbourne, Aug. 27. A terrible tragedy is reported to have occurred about three miles from the Springhnrst railway station, where a solicitor named George Dobson murdered three of his children and a neighbour named Peter Diusdalo, and then committed suicide by cutting his throat. Dobson had been in a very despondent mood for some days owing to monetary troubles, and was continually stating to his wife that he had only a few days to live Yesterday Mrs Dobson determined to obtain help, and left her house for that purpose, taking two of the youngest children with her. A friend of hers named Vouarex rode over to the residence this morning when he discovered the bodies and communicated with the police. A thorough search by the latter revealed the bodies of the children face downwards with their throats cut. Dinsdale had apparently beeu shot behind the oar while reading. Continuing their search the police found a butcher’s knife smear**' 1 with blood near an undo--and on look’*'" ‘ ...ground tank, ' ...g into the tank Dobson’s was observed with the head almost severed from the trunk.
