MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Temuka—Tuesday, August 28th, 1894. [Before C. A. Wray, Esq., S.M.] ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES. Duncan Fraser was charged with having obtained the sum of £1 from John Henry, Ashburton, by means of false pretences. The case was remanded to Ashburton, and accused was allowed bail. BREACH OF THE PEACE. John Fraser (Temuka) and Michael Carr, charged with committing a breach of the peace between 11 and 12 o’clock on the night of the 17th, admitted the offence. After hearing evidence the magistrate cautioned accused and fined them 10s each and costs. CIVIL CASES. 0. A. Williams v. J. Rehu—Claim £1 0s 3d. Defendant had paid 10s since summoned, and judgment was now given for the balance due and costs. C. Story v. J. McClintock —Claim £1 7s 6d, for rent of cottage. Judgment for plaintiff for amount claimed and costs. John Sim v. T. Barrett—Claim 15s. —Judgment by default for amount claimed, with costs. W. McLeod v. Vyvian Tayler—Judgment summons. Mr Tripp for plaintiff. After hearing the evidence of defendant, the case was adjourned for two months. The Court then rose.
