SUPREME COURT.
At Christchurch, before Mr Justice Denniston, Hugh R. Rich, for stealing 50Q sovereigns, the property of the Rational Bank, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years with hard labor. Albert Otten, charged with having retained a post letter which should have been delivered to another person—nine mouths’ imprisonment. Maurice Savage, for breaking into a hotel and stealing a number of flasks of spirits, was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment. John Sorenson was found guilty of larceny, and George James Eden, of forgery and uttering. The former got 18 months and the latter two years. George Blackmore and George Shaskey pleaded guilty to having broken into a house, and were sentenced to six months’ probation. John Archer was acquitted on a charge of indecent assault. Richard Daniels pleaded guilty to a breach of the Chattels Security Act and was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. John Lambert, for stealing a number of engine-fittings, was sentenced to 15 months. Julius Danton was sentenced to 18 months for robbery ; John Sorauseu to twelve months for larceny.
