An advertisement appears elsewhere anent the forthcoming ploughing match to be held under the auspices of the Geraldine Farmers’ Club on Thursday, August 23rd, in Mr 0. Hewson’s paddock, near Orari Bridge. A meeting of the Ploughing Match Committee was hold on N . Ijlonday eyeping last, whan Mr A. Metcalf was added to the ground committee. Mr Geo. Ward reported on behalf of the subcommittee appointed to select a suitable paddock that, after careful consideration, they had secured MrO. Hewsqp’s paddock qu most satisfactory terms, Resolved-^

«That Mr John Mandell and Mr B. Cochrane be asked to act as judges of team horses and harness.’ Aletter was received from Messrs P. & D. Duncan, Ashburton, requesting that an open class be added for digging ploughs without any prize, as the various makers would be only too glad to complete without, same. Resolved—“ That an open class for digging ploughs be added, no prize to be given, and that Messrs P. & D. Duncan and other makers be noted to that effect. Major Moore brought up the matter of enlarging the boundaries to include Temuka, as many in that district were desirous of taking part in the match.. After discussion it was decided that the time was too short to make any alteration this year, but next year they would make the match open to the neighboring districts. Resolved—“ That the committee meet again on Monday, August 20th, at 7 p.m., to arrange prizes.”
