AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. The Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Limited (per Mr J. Mundell, auctioneer), report on the horse market at Tattersall’s on Saturday, as follows : The entry was the smallest we have had for several weeks, but the quality of the stock offered was good; 28 head was submitted to auction, and the major portion was sold at the following prices:— Draughts, young with trial, £ls 10s, £l6 15s, £l7 10s, £l9 to £2O; do light and aged, £9 10s, £lO to £11; light harness sorts, £8 10s to £9 ; hackneys, £7 10s to £B. The Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Limited, report, as follows for week ending Friday, July 27th, 1894 : Since our last report business has been more brisk, and a good deal .of wheat and oats have passed at full market rates. Wheat—There is enquiry for good old wheat at market rates, but owners still hold off for better prices. New wheat is also being enquired for at the quotations below : Velvet (old crop) 2s 7d to 2a 9d, tuscau 2s 6d to 2s Bd, red chaff 2s 5d to 2s 6d, velvet (new crop) 2s 4d to 2s 6d, inscan 2s 3d to 2s 4£d, red chaff 2s 2d to 2s 3d, on trucks, Timaru. Fowl wheat 2s Id f.o.b. Oats—There is a good demand for prime short oats at quotations, and enquiries fur duns and tartars of good quality. Danish are very slow. Prime milling Is 4d to Is 6d, short feed Is 3d to Is 4d, danish Is Id to Is 2d, Tartars Is 5Jd, duns Is 6d; on trucks. Barley—2s 8d to 3s; on trucks, Timaru. Potatoes—Derwent, 30s to 335, f.0.b., sacks in. Kidneys, 62s 6d to 655, f.0.b., sacks in. MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL. London, July 26. The quantity of wool sold at last series was 210,000 bales, of which 116,000 bales were taken for export, and 78,000 bales were held over. A South Australian wheat cargo, ex ship Occident, has been sold at 22s 3d. Nelson Bros, have declared a dividend of 2£ per cent. Three millions of the Bank of New Zealand stock were subscribed by the public in small sums. July 27. The liquidator of the New Zealand Loan & Mercantile Agency Company has applied to the Court for an order compelling the new company to pay the costs involved in the proceedings against members of the old Board to recover the amount of dividands paid out of capital. Mr Justice Williams adjourned the application until Wednesday, in order to enable the new directors to reconsider their position. New Zealand 4 per cent, incribed stock 107 J ; 3J per cent, ditto, 100 J. New Zealand mutton, first quality, 3f d per lb ; second, 3 3-16 d per lb. Lamb, first quality, 4id per lb. New Zealand hemp is firm; good quality £l6 10s per ton. There is a large supply of kauri gum with a poor demand and a general decline of ss. Good pale scraped, £5 10s; threequarter scraped, £3 15s. New Zealand long berried wheat, exwarehouse, is weaker and business quiet at 255. South Australian wheat, ex warehouse is at 25s 3d; Victorian 24s 9d. The Statist estimates that the wheat crop of Europe, United States, Canada and India will be nearly 256,000,000 quarters. Paris, July 27. Mr Jules Renard intends to form a company to establish centres in Belgium for the sale of Australian meat, dairy produce, wine and fruits. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following London cablegram of 25th inst.:— “ Wool.—The sales closed firmly this day at the level of last sales, except that since the close of last sales greasy and scoured super, merino, greasy and scoured medium and inferior merino, fine greasy and scoured crossbred, and medium greasy crossbred, are a halfpenny per pound higher. The total quantity sold during the past sale is 216,000 bales, of which 115,000 have been taken for the Continent, and 1000 bales for America. It is estimated that 78,000 bales have been held over for future disposal.” t
