IMPERIAL POLITICS.
London, July 20. In the House of Commons Mr John Morley, in moving the second reading of the Bill to reinstate 4000 evicted tenants, said that the Irish Church fund was able to provide £250,000 for the purpose. ''Colonel Saunderson moved an amendment that the Bill be read six months hence. July 21. In the House of Lords, Lord Salisbury, asking for time to discuss the financial Bills, claimed the right to amend the Budget. The Premier said that the House of Lords was merely an academic body when discussing money Bills, and it was impossible to amend them. Sir E. Grey, Political Secretary for Foreign Affairs, announced in the House of Commons that the Imperial Government had been officially informed by the Argentine Republic that the question of extraditing Jabez Balfour, was not yet decided. Replying to a question in the House of Commons Sir Edward Grey said that the Belgian and German treaties which affected the colonies were terminable on twelve months' notice.
The Parnellites are insisting on all the evicted tenants being reinstated. The Unionists desire that reinstatement should be voluntary.
