TEMUKA CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.

The second social gathering or ingleside of the above society was held on Thursday evening last in the Volunteer Hall, Temuka. There was a good, if not a large, attendance, and the evening’s amusements were appreciated by all. The hall looked well, the floor was in capital order, and the stage, which was utilised us a spare room, was suitably furnished with lounges, easy chairs, chess and draughts tables, etc. Of the latter a number availed themselves while dancing was in progress. In connection with the dancing, Mr Jenkins acted as M.C., and Messrs Levons Colville, and G. Collins supplied excellent’ music. The catering was left to Mr McOaskill, who upon this occasion excelled himself. It had been intended to make the gathering one expressive of regret at the departure of Mr W. McLeod, who has been one of the most enthusiastic workers in all that pertains to Caledonian matters, and a very prominent member of society. Unfortunately, pressure of .
