THE DERBY.
London, June 6. The following is the result of the Derby:—Lord Rosebery's Ladas, 1; Matchbox, 2; Reminder, 3. The favorite won in a canter by a length and a half. Time—2min 46sec. Seven horses ran. The starting prices of the placed horses in the Derby were—9 to 2on Ladas, 9to 1 against Matchbox, 33 to 1 against Reminder. Matchbox led on sufferance until entering the straight, when Lord Rosebery's colt was given his head, and easily cutting down the leader, won comfortably. The enthusiasm displayed by the large attendance has never been equalled at Epsom. Lord Rosebery received a great ovation, and the assistance of the police had to be called 'to restrain his friends from rushing him. The news of Ladas' victory was received wi+h excitement by members of the House of Commons, and cheers were given for the winning horse.
