TEMUKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The regular monthly meeting of the above committee was held on Tuesday evening. Present Messrs Salmoud (chairman), Bates, Bussell, McCaskill, Miles, Hooper, Grant, Leveus, and Taylor. THE JANITOR. The secretary read the specifications of duties of the janitor or jauitreas. Eight applications, five male and three female, were received for the position, and on a ballot being taken Mrs Ardell was appointed. HEAD MASTER’S REPORT. The head master reported as follows : «X have the honour to report that the average attendance for the last four weeks is 317.5, with a roll number of 350. The highest attendance on any one day was 329. One of the doors of the closets is somewhat out of repair, and should be seen to. —I have, etc., D. Ferguson. Mr Bates offered to attend to door free of charge. VISITORS. Messrs Levens and Hooper reported that the fences at the school required cutting and grubbing, and there were several gaps that required making up.— The work was allowed to stand over, pending arrangements with fresh caretaker. ANNUAL REPORT, The secretary submitted a draft of the report to be laid before the householders on Monday next. It was approved subject to some slight additions. VOTES OP THANKS. On the motion of Mr Bussell an unanimous vote of thanks was passed to the chairman for the use of his office, and for the courtesy with which he had conducted the meetings. Mr Salmon d briefly acknowledged the compliment, and the meeting terminated.
