London, April 10. In consequence of Mr Morley refusing to give the Evicted Tenants’ Bill equal precedence with the Electoral Registration Bill, dissentient Radicals yielded to the Government, When Sir W. Harcourt’s motion to take away the private members’ day came to the vote the Parnellites abstained from voting on the question. The Unionist Press declares that the reprieve afforded to the Government by the success of Sir W. Harcourt’s motion will be very brief. April 12. In the House of Commons, Sir U. K. Shuttleworth, Secretary to the Admiralty, said that it was intended to make the British fleet equal to the combined strength of the fleets of two of the greatest foreign powers. In the House of Commons the Irish Laud Tenure Bill was read a second time by a majority of 89. The Irish Land Tenure Bill, which has been introduced into the House of Commons by Mr D. Kilbride, member for the South Division of Kerry, is designed to protect tenants’ improvements and prevent confiscation of land. The Budget will be delivered on Monday.
