London, April 8. In theHoure of Commons Mr S. Woods, member for luce, moved to abolish mining royalties, which he said had now reached £5,000,000 annually. Mr Asquith the Home Secretary, said that if the proposal were adopted, it would be necessary to acquire the mines, which would involve a capital of £150,000,000. The motion was rejected on a division by a majority of 107 votes. • Sir Wilfred Lawson gave notice to ask the Queen to explain the bestowal of knighthoods and peerages similar to the Victoria Cross. April 10. In the House of Commons Sir W. V, Harcourt’s motion taking away private members’ day, was carried by a majority of 26.
