No. of Electors on Electoral Roll 2837 No. of Electors who recorded rotes at Election on 21st March, 1894 1761 Although more than one-half the number of Electors on the roll recorded their votes, the required “ majority of three-fifths of the votes recorded ” were not given iu favor of the proposal that no licenses be granted ; and these votes added to those given in favor of the reduction of licenses form a total which is not an “absolute majority” of the votes recorded, and as an “ absolute majority ” of the votes recorded were in favor of the proposal that the licenses continue as at present, 1 therefore declare that the number of Publican’s Licenses, Accommodation Licenses, and Bottle Licenses, so far as tho objects and purposes of the present poll of electors are concerned, continue as they are iu the Licensing District of Rangitata.
