GERALDINE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The Geraldine School Committee met on Tuesday evening. Present—Messrs W. H. Walton (chairman), C. E. Sherratt, T..Sherratt, J. Dean, T. Bowkett, and J. Gore. HEAD MASTER'S REPORT. The head master reported the average attendance for the quarter is:—Boys, 96.8 ; girls, 103.7; total, 200.5. Average weekly rod, 25-i; highest attendance, 219. You will be glad to notice ,that the attendance this quarter is as yet the highest we have had for two year's, and it is to hoped that the children will continue to attend so as to maintain this average. STANDARD I. Resolved—" That yellow blinds be got for schoolroom Standard I." VISITORS. The visitors reportsd that the attendance was keeping up well, which would entitle the Committee to increase incidentals, and extra teaching staff* for the school.

Messrs T. Sherratt and Gore were appointed visitors for the ensuing month. The Committee then rose. . THE EXPRESS TRAIN AT WINCHESTER. Mr F. R. Flatman, M.H.R., at the request of the inhabitants of Winchester recently communicated with the Railway Commissioners with the object of having the railway system altered so that the express train would stop at Winchester when necessary for passengers travelling as far as Ashburfcon or through to Christchurch. Mr Flatman has just rereiyed a reply from the Cammissiouers that they regret they cannot see their way to comply with the request.
