AUCTIONEERS' REPORT. The Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association, Limited (per Mr J. Mundell, auctioneer), report on the horse market at Tattersall's on Saturday as follows : The entry consisted of 39 of all classes. Included in this number were 17 head, the portion for Timaru of a shipment from Melbourne to this colony, by our enterprising townsmen, Messrs O'Brien and McGrath. These horses arrived in fine condition, and an exceptionally good lot they were, being principally pure-bred Clydesdale mares, all young, and several unbroken. This is a splendidid opportunity for breeders in this district to secure a change of blood, which is so essential to the successful breeding of horses. Prices for this lot did not come up to the expectations of the importers, and several of the best mares were passed at auction. We have, however, received several applications for the unsold portion, and anticipate that all will be cleared in a few days. Mr Jameß Austiu secured one of the mares for his stud at Winchester. One-third, of the entry was sold at the following quotations : —Draughts, young and sound, with trial, £l6 10s, £lB 10s to £2O; do light and aged, £8 to £9 10s; light harness sorts, £8 10s to £11; hackneys, £5 10s to £lO.
