TEMUKA ATHLETIC CLUB.

A meeting of the committee of the above club was held at the Young Men’s Club rooms last night. Present —Messrs Scannell (in the chair), D. Henry, J. M. Naughton, J. Beri, E. Carr, W. Angland; W. McLeod, T. Gunnion, D. McCaskill, A. Bissett, G. Phillips, W. McCftllum, G. Mason, and A. S. Jenkins (interim secretary). The first business dealt with was the election of general officers. Mr D. Henry was unanimously elected President of the society, and briefly acknowledged the compliment conferred upon him. It was a position he had not aspired to, but, since they had elected him, he would do the best he could for the society. Mr Henry then took the chair.

Messrs M. Scannell and A. Bissett were elected Vice-Presidents.

On the motion of Mr Scannell, seconded by Mr J. M. Naughton, Mr A. S. Jenkins was unanimously elected secretary and treasurer. The following gentlemen were elected a ground committee: —Messrs T. Gunnion, W. McOallum, G. Phillips, and D. McOaakill. Messrs McLeod, D. McCaskill, J. M. Naughton, and E. Carr were appointed a sub-committee, with officers ex officio, to draw up a programme of sports. Messrs Beri, McOallum, Mason, and Gunnion were appointed a committee to carry out the ball in the evening. The secretary was requested to act as convenor of all committees.

It was proposed and carried —“That the 6s membership ticket admit a member, and his family up to the age of sixteen years.” Sundry suggestions were made to the committee as to arrangements to be made, and the secretary was requested to write to the Park Board to secure the ground, etc.

It was resolved received be paid to the credit of the club at the Bank of New South Wales, and that cheques be signed by the president and secretary.” It was decided to issue complimentary tickets to the officers of kindred societies.

It was agreed to hold a general committee meeting on Monday night next, to receive the report of the programme com mittee and transact other business, minor details having been arranged, the meeting terminated with a vote of tha n ] £S to the chair.
