N.Z. BUTTER.

Wellington, Jammy 19. Mr Lowe, the New Zealand butter expert in London, has forwarded a report to the Agricultural Department stating that the quantity of butter from the Australian colonies is considerably in excess of the previous season. Comparing prices this season with last they are very similar at the time of writing, but the market is in a very uncertain position. Best colonial has fallen Bs. He considers the appointment of a butter committee to regulate the price will secure ;v greater uniformity of prices for finest butter. Mr Lowe states that much harm is done by the receipt of Australian consignments said to be equal to the finest Victorian, but which on examination prove to be of very uneven quality. There are scarcely two boxes alike, nearly every box being “ marbled.”
