THE ANARCHISTS.

Pahis, Jan. 10. The Anarchist Vaillant, who thi’ew the bomb into the Chamber of Deputies last month has been sentenced to death.

The jury in Vaillant’s case debated only for half an hour before returinng a verdict. The trial lasted six hours. Vaillant refuses to appeal against the sentence. He preserved his cynical demeanour all through, and heard the sentence unmoved. When called upon to speak he reiterated his regret at the small number of Deputies who were hurt by the explosion. He read a long document abusing the moneyed classes, and dwelling on the miseries of the masses. He quoted Darwin and Herbert Spencer. The Palace of Justice bristled with armed guards during the hearing of the case.

, Madrid, Jan. 10, Ihe man Salvator Fraach and his wife, who are under arrest for complicity in the outrage at the Barcelona theatre, state that shortly before the date of the explosion the Anarchists attended a meeting in town, armed with bombs, knives, and revolvers, intending to sack and burn the town, but internal quarrels prevented the dastardly scheme being carried into effect.
