A Disgraceful Hoax.— News was received in Geraldine on Wednesday night last by someone coming from Temuka that Mr George Ward’s eldest son had been drowned at Milford, Mr Ward and his family naturally were much put about over the news, and when nothing was seen of the matter in the newspapers, and the police at Geraldine had heard nothing about it, the next day their anxiety to know the truth of the report was intense. The Gerald ine police communicated with Temuka, and received the reply that nothing had been heard in Temuka of any drowning accident at Milford.
