MAIL NOTICES.

Subject to any necessary alterations, mails will close at the Temuka Post Office as under:—

The next English and European Mail via San Francisco will close at this Office on Wednesday, the 27th day of December, at 5 p.m. Money orders, registered letters, newspapers, and bookpackets at 1.55 p.m. Late fee letters (2|d extra) at mail van till departure of north express. (This mail will be due in London on 31st January"). The next mail for Chatham Islands, per Kahu, will close at Lyttelton on Saturday 30th December, at 8 p.m. NOTICE. Christmas and New Year Holidays. The Post Office. Temuka, will on Christmas and New Year's Day observe close holidays. On the 26th inst., Boxing Day, the office will be open in all its branches from 9 to 10 a.m. only. Receiving and posting boxes will be cleared and contents disposed of on the evening of the 23rd and 30th inst., and on morning of 25th inst. and Ist pros. Christmas and New Year Cards for transmission through the post must have the flap of the envelope turned in, or one end of the envelope left entirely open, otherwise the packet will be charged letter rate. Cards may have written on them complimentary or such like remarks, also the name and address of the sender, and the date of sending. To ensure the dispatch of correspondence by the first train in the morning, the receiving-box in the Main street (Mr Darroch's) and that at Wilkin. street, Arowhenua (Mr Russell's), will, after Monday next, be cleared twenty minutes earliar than at present.
