TEMUKA FLORAL AND HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

A meeting of the committee of the above society was held at Mr Marshall’s rooms on Monday evening. Present — Messrs Bennett, Wareing, H. West, G. Smith, J. Holwell, Saunders, Carston, J, Wright, and the secretary. Mr J. Holwell presided. Several small alterations were made in the schedule, and special prizes were given by Messrs H. West and J. Wright. It was resolved to notify alterations and additions by means of a leaflet. It was decided that potted butter for competition be sent in by Tuesday, December 12, to Mr E. C. Dann’s. It was resolved to invite Messrs Knowles and Lewis, of Timaru, to act as judges of pot plants and cut flowers, and Messrs Lowe (Timaru), and Britten (Pleasant Point), as judges of fruit and vegetables. In connection with the miscellaneous class, the secretary was asked to invite Messrs D. McCalluin and H. Oldfield to act as judges of dairy produce and bacon, and to request the ladies’ committee to appoint judges for sewing, etc. Arrangements in connection with the refreshment stall, music, etc., were left in the hands of the treasurer aud secretary. Messrs H. West and G. Smith (Main Road), were appointed class stewards for flowers, and Messrs Saunders aud Holwell for vegetables, and Mr James Wright for fruit. Encouraging reports were received as to the way in which new members are enrolling, and there was a generally expressed opinion thit the show would prove successful. The secretary stated that nearly £7O in cash aud value would be given as prizes.
