GERALDINE Isa- V ASHBURTON Ist. The above Association Club match took place on Thursday last on the Ashburton Domain. Play commenced at 11 a.m., and stumps were drawn at 6.30, Ashburton won the toss, and elected to bat, and sent in Andrews and Jackson to face the bowling of Fish and Pearpoint. No stand, however, was made till Denshire appeared. Unfortunately for Geraldine the umpire gave this player “ not out ” for a very decided catch before he had scored, which of course, materially altered the Ashburton total. Owing chiefly to the the excellent bowling of Fish and Macdonald, the Ashburton team were disposed of for 50 runs. Fish and Macdonald then appeared to do battle for Geraldine. Macdonald, with four i uns to his credit, was bowled by Lane. Pearpoint followed, and was splendidly caught by Russell for one run. After which Beckett and Fish ran the score up to 46, and the innings closed with 74. The scores are as under :
