A MAGNIFICENT ADJUSTMENT.

The watch, undoubtedly, is a fine piece of mechanism. It has lately been brought to a very high state of perfection. One of the most wonderful pieces in the whole of the escapement is the fine spiral spring commonly known as the hair spring. The way in which this coil is tempered is truly marvellous. For many years it was a perfect secret, and even now certain large factories where the watch is manufactured pride themselves upon the perfection and exceptionally fine temper they throw into the spring. Let either the main or hair spring break and the whole train comes to a standstill. Both are indispensable, and each must have perfect action. Now what these springs are to the watch, the liver and kidneys are to the body. On the one hand you have the liver in the form of a large gland or secreting organ separating the bile from the blood, and also making glycogen from it; while on the other you have the kidneys in the shape of two glands, and consisting of many tubes, removing the water and urea from the blood, and forming a portion of the excretory system. As long as these two act in unison a general healthy order prevails. Let the kidneys, however, become granulated, and Bright’s disease, with its train of suffering and anguish, makes its appearance. The uric acid is not carried off, and the man becomes the subject of distressing afflictions. There is, however, a specific for all liver and kidney complaints, and its cures are simply wonderful. Warner’s “Safe” Cure has proved itself a boon to thousands and a treasure worth more than its weight in gold. By keeping these two springs of action in their normal condition it secures an almost perfect immunity from danger to the whole of the body. •
