OTAGO PRESBYTERIAN SYNOD.

At the Presbyterian Synod, Dunedin, there was rather an angry discussion concerning commercial morality on the deliverance re state of religion. Mr E. B. Cargill strongly condemned the charges of dishonesty which had been made against the farmers and merchants. There was no foundation for them. (The Eev. Mr Keith Eamsay also objected to the deliverance, and said that there was no foundation for the reference made to commercial morality. After further discussion, in which Mr Cargill said that in 50 years’ experience he had never been asked to do anything not in accordance with morality, the deliverance was referred back to alter the terms.
