The Ashburton correspondent of the Christchurch Press writes -An amusing gaol-breaking incident occurred in a secluded little town down south a few days ago. An inebriate had been fined in the morning, and towards evening he was again walked in by the sergeant. A short term of imprisonment was imposed the following morning, and towards the afternoon the erring one was set to work so cleen up the footpith leading to the Courthouse.
