RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT. Geraldine—Tuesday, October 17. [Before C. A. Wray, Esq., R.M., and H. W. Moore, Esq., J.P.] CIVIL cases.

C. E. Sherrattv. Prank Hewitt—Claim £lO 4s, on a dishonored cheque. Mr F. Wilson Smith for plaintiff. Caleb E. Sherratt deposed that defendant was a hotel keeper at Invercargill. W itness held the dishonored cheque produced, and had applied to defendant for the money, but the latter ignored the claim. E. T. Connolly, saw defendant sign the cheque produced. Defendant gave it to witness in payment of money lent. Judgment was given for plaintiff by default for amount claimed, with costs. MAINTENANCE. Charles Trengrove applied for a reduction on the amount paid by him for the support of his children in the Burnham Industrial School.

The Bench agreed that if applicant pays up arrears (£9) they would consider his application. The Court then rose.
