MR EDGELER’S REPLY.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Will you kindly give me space in your valuable paper to say a fewwordß in answer to Union's criticism of my letter. I would advise him to read more carefully before he begins to criticise. If he reads my letter again he will see that I said " the wonderful, great politicians in this locality." Now I wish Union and all others to understand that I never rush into print without duo caution or strict inquiry about anything which I write, and I did so in this instance. I was informed that the Union had written to Mr Buxton. Now to ascertain the truth I did, in the presence of the gentleman that told me so, ask Mr T. Buxton if the Union had written to his father. He said ho did not know. The gentleman said " I heard they have." Mr T. Buxton s.iid "Oh, very likely. I know he has received a letter." Then Union goes on referring to my sense of hearing, and says it must be a heavenly gift, behe hag np|j heard it. Doeß Union, fihink no pre. speaks, o.f the union qnly in his presence. I think, it is he that has, the. heavenly gift to he everywhere and heap everything as he thinks he should. Now one thing I thank Union for, that is tlio aasur-anoe. that they will support the pveseut Government, and I may say tlioy have my best wishes m$ supgojt W all their just undertakings, jnow, as to thefe Prohibitionists or Good Templars, whi§h ever they like to term themselves, qj; both if they wish, I may say I viewed the Re'y. Mr pellpw, and frojn. what passed at that interview, jie being pne qi the leading naen, J formed my conclusions, ag to whq,t | have writhe?}, The General EJeptjqn beiijg pup of affairs of Stafgj jt concerns everyone, oven the" babe \n the cradle, ft is pot one person's business, but everyone's business. Let them be Whig or Tory it is not for one sect or one society to make or mar as they please.—l am, etc., G. EpQEi"R, 8,G,C.A,,
