Londow, Oct. 3. The coal-owners have again positively refused to come to a settlement unless the miners agree to a certain amount of reduction. Oct. 4. The Church Congress is raising funds to' relieve the miners' famine. Half a million children are daily dependent on charity for food. Oct 5. At the Church Congress, Sir W. H. Holds worth, M. P., said that the losses by the coal strike in the Midland 1,. Counties amounted to £10,000,000. The Yorkshire Miners' Society have spent the whole of their accumulated fund of £160,000. Mr Tom Mann says that minprs wages average only 13s per week, and that reduction means starvation. Sydney, Oct. 5. The Greta miners have submitted a motion to the district concerning the coal-owners' determination to terminate the agreement at the end of the year. They suggested that it should be terminated at once, and any means adopted to bring back the trade. The Newcastle coaltrimmers threaten to strike, owing to a reduction of 3d per hour in wages. Should a difficulty arise men will be procured from Melbourne.
