GERALDINE COUNTY ANGLERS’ SOCIETY.

The annual meeting of the Geraldine County Anglers’ Society was held in the Crown Hotel, Temuka, yesterday afternoon. Mr A. M. Clark presided. The annual report showed that there was some slight improvement in the society’s financial position. One competition had been held, the results of which were, fairly satisfactory. The principal winners were Mr W. Mendelso u (who took the cup for artificial fly fishing) and Mr A. Beck (who secured the cup for minnow fishing.) A fly-book, presented to the Society by Messrs A. Briscoe & „Co., per Mr James Findlay, had yet to be fished for. The annual dinner had been dispensed with. The balance-sheet showed total receipts £l4 13s 7d, and expenditure £lll4s 9d, showing a credit balance of £2 8s lOd. Against this, however, there were some small liabilities.

On the motion of the President, seconded by Mr A. W, Gaze, the balance* sheet as adopted was read.

Votes of thanks were returned to the retiring officials, especially to the secretary and treasurer, Mr E Cutten, and also ito riparian owners for privileges conferred. The votes were acknowledged in gloho by Mr A. M. Clark.

On the motion of Mr Gaze, Mr A, M. Clark was re-elected President, and Messrs J. T. M, Hay hurst and J. Guild were elected Vice-Presidents. Mr E. Cutten was reelected secretary an(l treasurer. Messrs D. Fergusson, F, Cameron, and S. Clark were elected members of the society, and from the revised list of membership, Messrs G. Laing-Measou, F. Cameron, P. Coira, R. Pinckney, N. C. Nicholas, D. Taylor, and J. McLean were elected a committee. It was resolved to recommend the committee to have a fishing competition for Messrs Briscoe and Go’s fly book on October 12th under the following conditions : Hours from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. ; artificial fly only; basket to contain the greatest number over 10 inches irrespective of weight. It was resolved to ask Mr P. Ooira to act as |iidgo. This concluded the business, and the meeting terminated with the customary vote of thanks to the chair.
