HEADMASTER’S REPORT, The headmaster reported : —“ The attendance to date is: Boys, 84.6; girls, 93.5; total, 178.1. Weekly roll 250. Highest attendance 211. Although the attendance is below that required to maintain the present status, I have received instructions that the salaries and allowances will be payable on the basis of last quarter’s average, and will not, therefore, be affected by the low average this quarter. Mr Gore commenced his duties on Monday the 26th iust., and is giving every satisfaction. lam sure that he will prove a valuable addition to the staff. I beg to draw the committee’s attention to the following matters :—The paths at the principal entrance to the school require immediate attention. The water here on rainy days is frequently inches deep. The dividing fence between the school residence and the adjoining right-of-way, erected by the board at a cost of £lO, is being knocked over by a quantity of timber being piled against it. The attendance is still extremely irregular, although every effort is being made by the staff to compel the children to attend. The irregular attendance will affect the inspector’s examination, which takes place in November.”
" T. Cheynb Fabnib, " Headmaster." It was left in the hands of the visiting committee to see footpath put in order, and also to make some effort to compel regular attendance. It was resolved that the person owning the timber near the school residence be ordered to remove it at once. THE JAKITOKSHIP.
