London, Sept, 3. The Miners’ Federation are issuing a ballot asking the men to decide upon throe questions (I) Tp agree to arbitration ; (2) To, re sume at the old rate ; or (3) To accept a partial reduction. The miners in Netware stealing apples, and potatoes, in order to avoid starvation. Owing to the str'ke ten thousand women and children in the Midlands are being fed daily by charitable bodies. Sept 5. Tfiirty thousand miners in South Wales have abandoned the sliding scale of pay, and decided to join the Miners’ Federation of Great Britain. A mass meeting of minors at Pontypridd, Glamorganshire, have decided tp resume work on Tqrsdjw. Sept. 5. The Fifeshire miners have resumed work. The Welsh employers decline to discuts terms until the men resume work. Sydney, Sept. 5. It is understood that the seamen’s strike will be officially declared off to-day. The shipowners and marine engineers have arranged a conference to discuss the rate of wages on intercolonial steamers. The conference opens in Melbourne on Thursday next.
