London, August 31. The strikers in Derbyshire attempted to wreck the express, goods, and excursion trains. .The Scotch miners are striking. The coal-owners express regret at the miners declining arbitration. Nearly half the Welsh miners have returned to work. Sept. 1. The miners of Notts are raising a loan at 5 per cent., repayable in three months, in support of the men on strike. The strikers let loose a truck at the Midland Railway at Erkington, but the signalman gave warning just in time to prevent a crowded excursion train being wrecked. Paeis, August 31. 111-feeling between French and Italian workmen continues. Many of the latter were expelled from the works at Nancy. Washington, August 31. The unemployed in Chicago, including in their number many Italians, laid seige to a rifle store. The troops planted Gatling guns in the streets, and at the sight of these formidable weapons the mob quickly dispersed. Brisbane, Sept. 3. The wool shed at theNaryil Company's station, the scene of the recent trouble in connection with the wages paid to couspabouts, has been burned down. The origin of the fire is unknown. The police reinforcements have not yet reached the station.
