AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD.

The adjourned monthly meeting of the above was hold last night. Present— Messrs B, Carr,E, Brown, and A, Russell. Mr E, Brown was voted to the chair, CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read, and dealt with as follows: From the Commissioner of Crown Lauds, relative to the payment of thirds for which proposals bad bean submitted, and suggesting that the board should submit for approval the way it was proposed to expend amounts now accruing. —The clerk to reply, From Mr P. Ooira, asking that the name of Mr James Turner be placed on the roll in respect of section 44, now occupied by him,—Mr Turner consented to the same, and the exchange was ordered to bo made. From Mr Job Brown, asking that his name be placed on the roll in respect of sections 117, HO, and 12.1, in lieu of that of Mr A. Russell.—Agreed to. From Mr James Crowe, asking that the name of Mr James Milne bo substituted for his upon the roll in respect of section G37.—Agreed to. From the Ballanco Memorial Committee, requesting the return of subscription lists, and subscriptions if any.— None received, lists to bo returned. From the Commissioner of Taxes, covering forms to bo filled in to entitle the board to receive subsidy under the Local Bodies Powers and Finance Act. —The chairman was authorised to till in the same. From the Government, covering circular memorandum relative to the taking of land for Public Works.—Received, overseer’s REPORT. The overseer reported that one man had bom employed for 9 days filling ruts,

etc., on main road, etc. No other work had been done, Re Creek Reserves. —The clerk was authorised to write to the Crown Commissioner, and impress upon him the necessity of forwarding a once a plan showing numbers and areas of Garden Reserves as now vested in the Board. INTERVIEW. Mrs Lavery applied on behalf of her husband to be allowed to surrender the lease of reserves now occupied by them. —The board offered no objection, and it was resolved that the reserves be let for the balance of the period. The overseer was authorised to invite tenders for the lease of same for the outstanding term; tenders to bo dealt with by two members of the board. MISCELLANEOUS. Attention was drawn to the way in which the footpaths, etc., were cut by up the traffic of tradesmen’s carts, etc., and also to gorse on roads. The overseer was instructed to notify offenders in this respect, and report at next meeting. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £2 14r were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
