London, July 9. I At the wool sales competition is stronger and prices are firmer, except for best wools. The total quantity catalogued up to date is 207,000 bales, of which 190,000 bales have been sold. The English wheat market iB weak, and the Continental depressed while the American is changing u little for the better. The American visible wheat supply is estimated at 72,666,000 bushels. For one cargo of Australian wheat 28s 6d has been offered and another has been sold at 295. Tallow, medium mutton, 28s; beef, 27s 6d. Birkell, Sperling and Company, corn and flour factors, of Mark Lane, have gone into voluntary liquidation. July 10. The sum of £125,000 was tendered for of the Napier 3arbor Board loan of £200,000 at 5 per cent, with a minimum of 98. The Bank of Australasia, which issued the loan, has taken a further sum of £25,000, and the balance remains open at the minimum. Mr J. Maoandrew has been appoinied chairman of the National Bank of New Zealand. Mr James Coates, of Auckland, who has succeeded Mr Dymockas manager, will pay a visit to England to confer with the board. The creditors of the City of Melbourne Bank have unanimously adopted the reconstruction scheme. Washington, July 11. The Chamberlain Investment Company of Denver, the largest real estate company in Western America, has suspended. The liabilities exceed 2,250,000 dollars.
