THE DUKE OF YORK’S MARRIAGE.
London, July 7, The Bishop of Rochester and five other Bishops assisted the Archbishop of Canterbury in performing the marriage ceremony, Her Majesty and all the Royal personages were present. The Premier, the Lord Chancellor, and Lord Rosebery signed the register after the ceremony. At the wedding breakfast the Queen proposed the health of the bride and bridegroom, and Lord Carrington proposed the toast of “ The Queen.” The decorations in the streets were perfect, and no such crowds have been seen in London since the thanksgiving service for the recovery of the Prince of Wales in 1872. The Queen and Princess of Wales waved farewells from the balcony of Buckingham Palace to the Duke of York and his bride, as they drove away in- an open carriage with four horses attached. The Lord Mayor presented the happy pair with a congratulatory address on behalf of the city of London. Princess May’s presents are valued a £250,000. The guests at Buckingham Palace included the members of the Government and Foreign Embassy.
