July 6. Sir W. MacKinnon, whose death was recently.announced, left £250,000. 'By a colliery explosion at Thornhill in V orkshire, 147 miners were entombed. Ten of the miners entombed in the colliery at Thornhill have been rescued. They were found lying insensible amongst the dead. Berlin, July 4. The Reichstag was opened to-day. The F'mperor in Ms Speech said that his foreign relations were friendly and untroubled, although Germany’s military strength compared still more unfavorably than last year with that of her neighbors. He announced that the new Army Bill would be introduced. July 5. The Emperor, in his Speech at the opening of the Reichstag, appealed to the people to co-operate with the Government in passing the Army Bill. It was essential, he insisted, to the safety of the Fatherland that the Army should be kept up to the greatest possible strength, and the Bill must be passed immediately with a view to recruiting. They must look to Germany for the security of the peace of Europe, and he invoked the assistance of Providence to that end. It is expected that the Reichstag will devote moat of the session to the Bill. Constantinople, July 6. An English vessel from Marseilles has been quarantined here, with three cases of cholera on board. Hong Kong, J uly 4. Chinese have murdered two Swedish missionaries, 60 miles from Hankow. Cairo, July 3. It is reported that the Khedive has asked the Sultan to send troops to replace the British force in Egypt.
