TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.

The regular monthly meeting of the above was held last night. PresentMessrs J. Blyth (chairman), W. Storey, G. Mason, P. Coira, and J. W. Miles. CORRESPONDENCE. Corrrespondence was read and dealt with as follows : From the clerk Licensing Committee, enclosing account for share of expenses for the district, duly certified to. From the Land and Income Tax Commissioner, covering declaration to be made to enable the board to receive subsidy under the Local Powers and Finance Act. —Attended to. The chairman stated that nearly all rates were collected.—Mr Storey said great credit was due to the clork for the manner in which the rates were collected. f From Messrs Defries & Co., London, stating that they were prepared to execute orders for illuminating material if the board desired to celebrate the marriage of the Duke of York. —Received.

ARBOR DAY. The chairman brought up the questio 11 of the celebration of Arbor Day. Las* year the question was brought up too late> but there was no excuse now. He suggested that the co-operation of the School Committee and of the Arowhenua Town Board should be asked. If there was combination something might be done. A conversational discussion ensued as to the best way in which the day could be celebrated, and Mr Storey moved—- " That the chairman bo asked to convene a meeting of representatives of the Temuka and Arowhenua Town Board, the Temuka Road Board, the Temuka School Committee, and the Catholic School Committee for Tuesday next, at 4 p.m., at the office of the Temuka Town Board." This was seconded by Mr Mason, and carried. overseer's report. The overseer's report was to the following effect: — During past month nothing to report except partial completion of shingling repairs. About two days work would complete requisite repairs. A good deal of surplus material had been removed from the sides of roads and utilised for formation of footpaths. This had been done by the surfaceman. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £33 15s 2d were passed for payment, and the meetiug terminated.
