AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. The Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Limited (per Mr J. Mundell, auctioneer), report on the horse market as follows: — At Tattersall’s, Timaru, on Saturday, the entry consisted of 43 horses of all classes. Competition was good throughout the sale, especially for young stock. Under the hammer 23 horses were sold at the following quotations, viz. : —Draughts, young and sound, £l9, £2l, £23, to £3O 10s; do, light and aged, £7 10s, £lO, to £l4 10s ; light harness, £7 10s, £B, to £11; hackneys, £6 5s to £lO 40s; weedy sorts were unsaleable. TIMARU MARKETS. The Canterbury Farmers’ Association, Limited, report as follows for the week ending Friday, June 9th, 1893 ; Wheat—Although the prospects in the European markets have not changed for the better, yet locally a good deal of business has been done at quotations, and for large parcels of long-berried wheat lit for shipment, Id more has been paid to satisfy charterers’ requirements. Velvet (prime), 2s 8d to 2s 9id; tuscan (prime), 2s 7£d to 2s B£d ; red chaff (prime), 2s 6d to 2s 7d ; fowl wheat, Is to 2s; on trucks at Timaru. Oats—The demand for short oats has somewhat slackened. Danish have improved on late rates. Milling Canadians, Is lid to 2s; short feed, Is 8d to Is 9d ; duns, Is lOd to Is lid; danish, Is 7Jd to Is 9d, f.o.b. Potatoes—No new feature to report during the week, but a better feeling exists. The demand is only for actual requirements. We have an enquiry for kidneys. At country stations, 30s to 32s 6d. DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS, The following is the * , „ week ending , re P ort for the Whe»* -unesday k .—i'rime milling sells readily when offered, but stocks of this description are small compared to the quantity of second-rate quality held in store. The latter is moving oft’ in small quantities, bqt at less satisfactory prices to the sellers. Prime milling velvet and tuscan, 2s] 9d to 2s lid; extra, 3s; medium to good, 2s 5d to 2s 8d; inferior to medium, 2s Id to 2s 4d ; broken and thin, Is 9d to 2s. Oats—Fair business is passing, and values are still firmly maintained. With only the moderate quantity at present for immediate sale all lines offering meet with a ready sale at full prices. Long tartarians, well grown, bright and true to name, are in good demand for seed and realise top prices. Black tartarians and danish are also in fair demand. The latter, when full and well saved are taken up freely for milling. Quotations for bright stout milling, Is 9£d to Is 10d|; extra prime, Is lOid; best bright feed (sparrowbills more especially,) Is 9d to Is 9jd ; medium do and short tartarians,, Is 8d to Is Bfd ; discolored and inferior, Is 6d to ls7jd; medium to good long tartarians, Is 8d to Is 9Jd ; extra bright and clean, IslOdto Is Hid; black and danish, Is 7-Jd to Is Bid (ex store, sacks extra, net.) Barley While prime malting, if offered, could be placed at former quotations, little or no inquiry exists for such quality as is now offering. Nominal values are for prime malting, 4s to 4s 3d ; medium to good, 3s 3d to 3s 9d ; feed and milling 2s to 3s (ex store, sacks extra, terms.)

Barley, Cape, 2s 6dto3s 6d. Bran, lOd; pollard, lid to lljd. MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL, London, June 8. Three months’ bills are discounted at 1J per cent. The market is weaker. The bank rate of disount is 3 per cent. New Zealand 4 per cent, inscribed stock,lo4f ; 3| per cent, ditto, 96£. Frozen lamb, sgd per lb; beef, forequarters, 3fd; hindquarters, sjd. New Zealand hemp is quiet, and quotations are unchanged. New Zealand long-berried wheat, ex warehouse, is weaker at 30s 3d. South Australian and Victorian wheat, ex warehouse, is also weaker at 32s and 32s 6d, respectively. June 10. The wheat market is slow, with a diminished tendency.
