Football. —The following will play for Temuka 2nd against Timaru 3rd on Thursday next, in the Victoria Park: —Full-back, Grant; three-quarters, Radford, Greaves, Fenton ; half-backs, Sheen and Hooper; forwards, Carr, Barratt (2), Erwood, Collins, Strong, Spillane, Robinson and T. Mulhern ; emergencies, T. Wills, F. Storey, P. McCaskill. Licensing. —The licenses of all hotels in the Levels were renewed except the Washdyke hotel against which there was a complaint that the house was in bad repair. The licensee got six months to eifect the repairs. In Timaru all the licenses were granted, the only objections being against Mr O’Meaghan who was fined £5 for Sunday trading, and Mrs Farrell for selling a glass of beer to a prohibited person. _ The committee stated that if any one was found selling drink to a prohibited person the license would be cancellel, but in the case of Mrs Farrell it was shown that she had supplied the liquor without knowing that the person was prohibited . _ Applications for reopening some hotels in Sydenham were adjourned till the 19th infant.
