CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKET. At the Addington yards on Wednesday the attendance was not large, but business in all departments was fairly good. About 9000 sheep were penned, fully half of which were fat, but the entries of cattle were small in all departments. Store Sheep—An average entry of sheep was sufficient to meet requirements. Crossbred ewes in lamb and forward crossbred wethers met with a ready sale. Inferior sheep were less sought after. The few crossbred lambs in sold at about late rates. Merinos were dull of sale. Fat Sheep—A medium entry of fat sheep came to hand. The quality was fairly even all round, and merinos were more plentiful than usual. All good sheep met with a ready sale at up to late rates, while sound quality suffered a slight drop. Fat Cattle—A very small entry of fat cattle, of less than 100 head met with a ready market, and all sold at an advance in price. Best beef reached 24s per 1001 b; second quality going up to 225. Store Cattle—ln store cattle the small entry, consisting mostly of Cows and heifers, was nearly all disposed of at prices if anything Blightly in advance of those ruling last week. Pigs—There was a slightly larger entry than last week, baconers predominating. Contrary to expectations this class slightly recovered from the drop to which it had to submit last week. Porkers sold well, but stores and small pigs were somewhat irregular.
