In Brisbane and Sydney the Governments are paying holders of current accounts in the banks. The current accounts have been assigned to the Governments, who are paying the people their money. Now where are the wise-acres who used to say bank notes were safer than Government notes '! The Governments are merely issuing treasury notes, and these are freely accepted by the people. Why should we not have a State Bank and avoid swindling and usury ?
