Shearers Huts. —In an article complimentary to Mr Buick, the Nelson ‘Colonist’ quotes some of the facts mentioned in Constable Sheary’s report on the huts provided for shearers, and concludes as follows:—“ The truth is, Mr Buick has established an undeniable and substantial grievance. Hence the anger of those on whom it will fa 11 to pay. The wrongs of the shearers will certainly be redresed, and the superior persons who pay their high wages will reproachfully ask why they could not have said what they want without calling in the police. Yet there is Mr Buick’s chief merit. He has let the salutary light of publicity into the dark of the earth,”
