WOODBURY SCHOOL.

The monthly meeting of the committee of the above school was held on Saturday evening last. Present Messrs H. F. Brown (chairman), F. R. Flatman, A. Cormack, G. Hammond, L. Gick, J. Harris, and T. Squire. Correspondence was read— From the Board of Education, stating that they had paid into the Bank of New Zealand the sum of £4 12s 6d for one quarter's incidentals; also covering summary of attendance for quarter ending March 31, 1893. From the same, stating that they would grant the sum of £3 towards erecting the dividing fence asked for, providing the committee spend £4 upon the work.

From the Geraldine Road Board, enclosing the sum of £1 Is for the use of room for polling booth, which was acknowledged with thanks. The head master's report was read as follows:—"The attendance for the last four weeks has been satisfactory, as these figures show : Boys, 49 ; girls, 35 ; total, 84. The roll number is 100. Accounts received from Mr J. H. Mitchell for 16s for making cesspool, &c, from Mr J. H. Dean for 7s 6d for mending ladder, and from Mr Harris for 16s for cleaning the school after the Salvation Army up to May 25th, were passed for payment. The visitors, Messrs J. Harris and T. Squire, reported having visited the school, and that a few loads of shingle were required near the entrance to the school, two blind rollers required repairing, a new bucket was wanted for the girls' closet, and new gate-post was required for small gate, and the girls' swing wanted repairing. All school work was proceeding satisfactorily.—lt was decided to do all these things asked for, with the exception of the shingle, which was held over for the present. During the month one new bucket was provided for closet, and a new cesspool was made, the old ene being cleaned out and filled in. As Mrs Harris's term of twelve months for school cleaning expires on June 30th, it was decided to call fresh tenders for the same work for the next twelve months ending June 30th, 1894. Mr Flatman proposed, Mr Harris seconded, and it was carried —" That the board's offer of £3 be accepted, and that the committee would apply for it when they could make use of it." Mr Hammond proposed, Mr Cormack seconded, and it was carried —" That the school close for two weeks' holidays some time in June, the time to be fixed by the master and chairman." It was decided to get a new glass for one of the lamps. Messrs Cormack and Gick were appointed visitors for the ensuing month, and the meeting terminated.
