Perrault, ex member of the Ottawa Parliament, were in New York op April Bth, professedly on a pleasure ex; cursion, but really to confer with leading Americans who are favourable to annexe ing Canada with the United States. Mr Mercier says that Canada wants apd will ere long have independence. Then ha will be able to treat with the United States for annexation , She does not want Great Britain to negotiate, as its terms would bo made for England’s advantage not Canada’s. M.
