Melbourne, May 22. Tho action of Mr Isaacs, SolicitorGeneral, in the case of Sir M. Davies and Mr Milledge is warmly approved. It is regarded as certain that if he fails in the stand ho has assumed steps will bo ta,iveu by persons interested to apply to the Supreme Court to direct the Grand Jury to, enquire into the cases. The Premier, Colonial Treasurer, and Attorney-General had a conference 01 the matter, Tho two former agreed with the position tho Attorney-General had taken up in entering a nolle proseonq Mr Isaacs has announced that if the AttorneyGeneral demurred to take action and the Cabinet supported his view, he would resign. In the Criminal Court this afternoon the Crown Prosecutor announced that he had been instructed by tho AttorneyGeneral to say that there would be no prosecution in regard to Mr Milledge and Sir M. Davies. The Premier has written to Mr Isaacs, rebuking him for the position which he has taken up over the Mercantile Bank eases, and accuses him of too much eagerness to promote his political welfare. Boplying to a question submitted by Mr Isaacs, three Crown prosecutors have expressed the opinion that there is a primu facie case for a Jury to consider.
