IMPERIAL POLITICS.
A London, May 18. In the House of Commons the Premier, replying to a question asked by Mr JpMfh Chamberlain, said that the Home would give aii Irish Parliament control over the marriage law. Ho added that the Irish people did not now I possess, nor did they desire, a divorce law. Mr Glatslone has accepted Sir H. James’s amendment to the Home Rule Bill, declaring Imperial supremacy over Relaud. It is said that discontent at the want of firmness displayed by Mr Mellor, the Chairman of Committees, when the H otne Rule Bill for Ireland is before the Committee, is increasing on all sides. In Committee iu the House of Commons on the Home Rule Bill, the danse providing that “ with the exceptions and subject to the restrictions in this Act mentioned, there shall be granted to the Irish legislature power to make laws for the peace, order, and good government of Ireland, in respect of matters exclusively relating to Ireland or some part thereof,” was carried. There was much disorder during the debate. Further consideration of the Bill was adjourned until May 30th.
