The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday : Wheat —Fair inquiry for good lines of tuscan and velvet; medium quality not easily placed. Prime quality saleable at 2s 9d to 2s lOd; medium, 2s 4d to 2s 8d; fowls' wheat, good whole grain, 2s 3d to 2s 4d; medium, Is lid to 2s Id.
Barley—Chevalier, 3s 9d to 4s 3d; Cape, 2s 9d to 3s, for malting qualities. Oats have very good enquiry and are easily placed off trucks. Good milling, to prime short feed, Is 8d to Is 9d; other sorts, Is 7d to Is Bd. Hops—ls, f.0.b., Nelson. Potatoes —Good derwents, 555, and wanted (supplies short during the week) ; other qualities, 45s to 47s 6d. Pigs have fair inquiry, to for suitable sizes and quality. Hams, 9d; bacon, 6^d. Chaff—Supply in excess of demand, prime, 45s to 50s ; good, 40s to 42s Gd. Salt butter—Demand quiet, to Sd, packages extra. Cheese in better demand, Akaroa large, 4|d to 4§d ; factory, to sd. Iloney —Extracted, 561 b tins, to 5d ; other sorts from to 4|d. Grass Seeds —Ryegrass, 2s to 2s 6d ; machined up to 3s 3d ; old pasture to 3s 9d ; cocksfoot, 2£d to 4d.
Sheepskins—Competition is keen for sound skins. Best dry crossbreds are worth 5s to 6s 8d ; medium do, 3s 9d to 4s lOd; inferior do, Is 9d to 3s 6d ; best dry merino, 3s to 4s; medium, Is lOd to 2s 9d; best green crossbreds, 3s 6d to 3s 9d; medium, 2s lOd to 3s 4d ; best do merino, Is 9d to 2s 4d; lambskins, 3s to 3s 9d; medium do, Is 9d to 2a lOd. Hides are saleable at late quotations. Be3t well flayed ox hides, 601 b or over, are worth 2Jd to 2f d; medium ox, Ifd to 2d; inferior, l|d to l£d; damaged and slippy, Id. Tallow remains at prices quoted last week. Best rendered mutton, 21s to 22b 6d; medium do, 18s 6d to 20s 6d; inferior to medium, 15s to 18s. Rough fat—Best mutton caul, 14s to 14s 6d; medium to good, 12s 6d to 13s 6d; inferior, lis to 12s.

Bacon, local, r av 10, Melbourne, Wheat, prime milling, 3s l|d. Flour, stone-made, £6 12s 6d; rollermade, £7 to £7 ss. Oats, Algerian, Is B\d to Is lid; stout, lsOdtolsllJd. Barley, 2s 3d; malting, 4s 7d. Bran, Bfd to 9d; pollard, 9gd to lOd. Maize, 3s Bd. New Zealand hemp, £l7 to £l9, nominal. Potatoes, £2 10s to £2 15s. The butter market has a downward tendency, owing to heavy supplies from New Zealand. The latest quotation is lOjd. Cheese, New Zealand, 6d. Adelaide, May 10. Wheat, 3s Id to 3a 2d. Oats, 3s to 3s 2d, duty paid. Bran, 9d to lOd ; pollard, lid. Flour, £8 to £8 2s 6d. MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL. London, May 10. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 3,700,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,312,000 quarters. Several parcels of Australian wheat have been sold at 31s, and two cargoes at 31s 4Jd. Bank of Now Zealand shares, £lO paid up, £6 15s; £5 paid up, £4l4s; National Bank of New Zealand, £l. The silver market is demoralised, and there are no quotations.
