London, May 7. Last month the imports showed an increase of £2,750,000, and the exports £1,250,000. Tallow, medium mutton, 28s; beef, 265. A cargo of Australian wheat, March shipment, has been sold for 31s. The shipment of wheat per the barque Coldingham, from Lyttelton (January 7), realised 27s 9d. May 9. It is expected that the bank rate of discount will be raised to 4 per cent. Colonial stocks, -with the exception of those of New Zealand, have fallen £ per cent. The wheat, ex the barque Mercia, from Timarn, sold at 24s 6d. 7GOO quarters of Australian wheat, March shipment, and 12,000 quarters of February shipment, were sold at 31s.
