CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKET.
At the Addington yards on Wednesday there were fair entries of stock. Fat Sheep—With the exception of a few extra good pens there was a weaker tone in the fat sheep market. Crossbred wethers made 17s to 19s, 14s 6d to 16s sd, and 10s Gd to 13s 3d, according to quality ; crossbred ewes ranged from 9s to 14s Kid, and a better line up to 15s 2d ; half bred ewes made from 10s 4d to 15s 9d. Merino wethers realised all prices from G 3 6d to 13s 7d. Fat Lambs—Fat lambs were difficult to dispose of, and they made from 9s to 12s 3d.
Store Sheep—A large number of stores were passed, and comparatively few lots were disposed of. A large line of fourtooth halfbreds Bold at 14s 4d to 14s sd, and another line of two-tooths at 12s 9d. The crossbred wethers sold made from 10s 6d to lis 6d, lambs 9s to 9s 7d, halfbred ewes lis 6d to lis 9d.
Fat Cattle—A considerable portion of the large yarding of fat cattle was passed, but prices were not materially altered. Steers made from £Q to £9, heifers £5 to £9 2s 6d, and cows £5 to £7 ss. Store Cattle—Store cows sold at prices from £2 10s to £0 10s, yearlings at 40s, steers £2 17s Gd to £0 2s 6d, dairy cows £4 10s to £ll.
Pigs—'The heavy yarding of pigs was readily disposed of. The bulk consisted of prime baconers, of which most were sold at from 40s to 475, the range being 36s to 545. Porkers made from 22s to 335, and stores from 10s 9d to 225.
DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS.
The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday : Wheat —Fair inquiry for good lines of tusear. velvet; medium quality not easily placed, |Mmp quality saleable at 2s 9d to 2s 10d> medium, 2s 4d to 2s 8d; fowls' wheat, good whole grain, 2s 3d to 2s 4d ; medium, Is lid to 2s Id.
Barley—Chevalier, 3s 0d to 4s 3d; Cape, 2s i)d to 3s, for malting qualities. Oats have very good enquiry and are easily placed off trucks. Good milling, lsßd to Is prime short feed, Is to Is 8d; other sorts, Is Od to ls'7-14, Hops—ls, f.0.b., Nelson.
Potatoes —Good derwents, 60s, and wanted (supplies short during the week) ; other qualities, 45s to 47s Gd. Pigs have fair inquiry, 4£d to for suitable mes and quality. Hams, 9d; bacon, G^d. Chaff —Supply in excess of demand, prime, 45s to 47s 6d; good, 40s to 42s Gd.
Salt butter—Demand quiet, to Bd, packages extra, Cheese in better demand, Akaroa large, 4J;d factory, 4-£d to 4fd. Honey —Extracted. 561 b tins, 4|d to 5d ; other sorts from 3|d to 4£d. Grass Seeds —Ryegrass, 2s to 2s Gd ; machined up to 3s 3d ; old pasture to 3s i)d ; cocksfoot, 2£4 to U-

Hides—All to hand this week were cleared out at prices on a par with those lately ruling :—Hea\y hides, 2d to 2£d ; extra do, 2£d to 3d ; medium, l£d to l^d; inferior to medium, Id to l£d per lb. Tallow—Owing to the weaker tone of the market at Home, buyers here are less anxious to operate at late rates. Best rendered mutton fetchea 21s 6d to 22s Gd ; medium to good, 18s Gd to 20s Gd; inferior to medium, 14s to 17s 6d ; best rough fat—mutton caul, 14s to 14s 6d; medium to good, 12s 6d to 13s 9d; inferior to medium, lis to 12s per cwt. DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS. At the Burnside Market on "Wednesday the following business was transacted:—
Fat Cattle—Only 116 head yarded. For prime beef bidd ; ng was spirited at up to last week's rates, but medium and inferior wai dull of sale and suffered a decline of 10s per head. Fat Sheep—l4lo crossbreds and 112 merinos yarded. There were more prime crossbred wethers in than for some time past. These all sold readily at, from 14s to 16s 6d ; but for old ewes and medium quality merino wethers bidding was dull at prices on a par with those ruling a week ago. Lambs—l3s were penned, which met with fair competition, best fetching 10s to 12s 3d, others 6s 6d to 9s 6d. Pigs;—ls7 penned. Porkers and baconers were in good demand, whUe all others had less attention, especially suckers. The latter brought 6s 6d to 12s; slips, 14s to 17s; stores, 21s to 275; porkers, 30s to 355; baconers, 39s to 57s—extra heavy, 60s. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, May 3. Maize, 3s 6d to 3s Bd. MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL London, May 3.
The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 3,744,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,348,850 quarters. A cargo of wheat of March shipment sold at 30s 9d.
At the wool sales prices remain firm. There was a lessened atthndance of buyers. The wool market is unchanged. The date of the third series is fixed for June 20th, and the fourth series for September 19th, the lists for both being unlimited. The fifth sale of the series close on November 28th, the list closing on the 22ud. May 4.
The present series of wool sales has closed, prices being firm up to the last. The total quantity of wool catalogued was 346,000 bale 3, of which 329,000 bales were sold, and 31,000 bales were held over. Compared with the previous series, meriuos, superior greasy, were Id lower ; merinos, average quality, Jd to Jd higher; scoured, £d to Id higher; good crossbreds, Jd higher. Inferior crossbreds brought the same prices. Share quotations—New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., £i 16s; Dalgety and Co., £5.
