TIMARU RACES. FIRST DAY. The South Canterbury Jockey Club’s Autum Meeting commenced on Thursday last. The day was beautifully fine and the attendance rather better than usual. The office-bearers all carried out their duties in a most satisfactory manner, the races were well contested, and those present seemed to enjoy themselves thoroughly. Results : Titnaru Hurdles of 50 sovs ; about If miles ; second horse 5 sovs from the stake—Mr W. Russell’s Magpie, list 121 b, 1; Mr J. Poole’s Rebel, list 21b, 2; Mr 6.
