AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the above was held last evening. Present—Messrs J. Ashwell (chairman), E. Carr, E, Brown, and A. Russell. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows: — From the secretary Atkinson Memorial Committee, asking for retnrn of subscription lists and amounts received in respect thereof.—None received, the clerk to return lists. From Mr J. McNeece, asking for statement of amount due for rates,— Attended to. OVERSEER S KEX J ORT The overseer’s report was read as follows ; “ I have the honor to report that the work o? cleaning the creek has been completed, with the exception of a portion where overhanging willows have interfered with the work. The cutting of these was not provided for in the specifications, and I recommend that they be uprooted at some future time.—l have prepared sketch plan of garden reserves, showing approximate areas and also draft of terms upon which same can be let.—l have examined the road-line at the creek on Hornbrook street, and estimate that a ford can be made at a cast of —lt will bo necessary to arrange for a few shingling repairs, and also for the cleaning of water-tables. “A. Gaze.” It was resolved that the overseer measure the creek with contractor at earliest opportunity, payment for work to be made subject to some little extra work being done, as suggested by Mr Brown. The overseer was authorised to employ a man with horse and dray for one week for shingle repairs. It was decided, on the motion of Mr Brown, seconded by Mr Barr, to call for tenders for cleaning all the water-tables, the same to be considered at next meeting. A COMPLAINT. M r s Hamilton (through the overseer) complained that two of her pigs had been shot by a neighbour, and she wished to know if they were allowed to, dq so aiid whether the board wQqlc] interfere. Should adjoining oecqPi&Tii decline to accept sections on the terms offered, public tenders to be called for the same. Tenders also to bo called for all reserves adjoining unoccupied fictions.
